Duffy&amp;#39;s collection called the World&amp;#39;s Wife, written from the perspectives of wives of famous figures, is hilarious in places. Try this too, from Mrs. Midas:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&amp;quot;...I made him sit&lt;br /&gt;on the other side of the room and keep his hands to himself.&lt;br /&gt;I locked the cat in the cellar. I moved the phone.&lt;br /&gt;The toilet I didn’t mind. I couldn’t believe my ears:&lt;br /&gt;how he’d had a wish. Look, we all have wishes; granted.&lt;br /&gt;But who has wishes granted? I really like Ted Kooser and Billy Collins&amp;#39; work; they use language like a paintbrush. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I write poetry and have won a few awards for some of my work, but mine is not clever, just as close to the truth as I can get it.
